Last-minute Cinderella story

It was late in the afternoon of a long but exciting day. Four of five puppies were going home. Denver the cat had been transferred to another rescue group, PawPrints, where he would live in a cat group foster home until he was adopted. Trigger was on the road heading to his wonderful new home. It was time to pack the vehicles for the ride back to Hertford County. There was some disappointment that the other four adult dogs would have to go back to the shelter. But then, the Bass family came through the doors. Not to adopt a dog. Until they saw Betsy. Within minutes of observing her, they knew that this was the dog they had been looking for. With her small-but-not-too-small size, and her gentle temperament, she was the perfect dog for young Caitlin. Betsy's fairy tale was just beginning, and it was real.
